Nothing is stored before you agree
On your first visit, no measurement cookie is stored. The banner asks for your choice and the advertising script is only loaded if you accept. If you decline, or close the banner without answering, nothing is loaded.
The site behaves identically either way: no content is reserved for those who accept.
What is stored if you accept
- _fbp — Meta Platforms Ireland Limited
- Attaches your visit to an advertising identifier, in order to measure which ads lead to purchases. Duration: three months.
- _fbc — Meta Platforms Ireland Limited
- Keeps the identifier of the ad you arrived through, when you come from an ad. Duration: three months.
These cookies make it possible to know that a purchase followed a click on an ad. They give us neither your name, nor your number, nor your browsing history on other sites.
What is stored either way
- chinabook-cookies
- Records your choice — accepted or declined — so we do not ask again on every page. Stored in your browser, never sent to a server. Duration: six months.
This storage is essential to honouring your choice: without it, the banner would reappear endlessly. It serves no other purpose.
Changing your mind
The "Change my cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner. Declining after having accepted stops measurement immediately and erases the recorded choice.
You can also delete these cookies from your browser settings, or configure it to block them in advance. Ad blockers already prevent the measurement script from loading, without breaking anything on the site.
What we do not use
- No social network cookie other than the advertising measurement described above: no tracking share buttons, no embedded comments.
- No font, map or video loaded from a third-party service able to follow you: our videos are served from our own subdomain.
- No session replay tool, no heat map, no recording of your mouse movements.
